VALOR PERSONA 3: INTEREST AND SIGNUP POST
I'm going to run a tabletop campaign! Its tentative title is Persona Valor 3. Or maybe Valor Persona: Nakaoka-hen.
Premise
The game will be based on the Persona series of video games - while specific elements are going to be largely original, the tone of the game is intended to hew closest to Persona 2: Innocent Sin. The party will be a group of mid-sized city high school students - maybe with one or two non-high-school students that nonetheless have a reason to be meddling in high school students' affairs - battling shadows and inner demons in a collective mental world while also trying to get on with their regular lives.
It will be set in a fictional city in Japan, Nakaoka (not to be confused with any actual real-life Nakaokas). Nakaoka is a little bit northeast of Tokyo, in roughly the same place Kasumigaura is in our world, though it's larger and busier. It's not the kind of place where everyone knows your name, or where you can just talk about your problems with your neighbor and expect to get a helpful answer, though you won't really be treated badly by anyone for no reason, either. Or at least... not until recently. Crime, misfortune, and nasty rumors about people are all on the rise around town lately, for little apparent reason. Some people are wondering whether the city has been cursed.
The geography of the city is more straightforward: it's on a peninsula extending southeast into Nakaoka Bay, bounded by the bay itself on every side except the northwest, which is denoted by the Joban line instead. As far as actual high school goes in the city, there are two: Tsukinami HS in the northeast part of town by the lakeside and Futatsueda HS towards the southwest in the middle. Futatsueda has a bit of a reputation for being nothing but troublemakers, especially the young men. The two schools are technically rivals, but on average only their sports teams actually take the rivalry very seriously.
Other notable features of the city include a couple of golf courses, a TV filming studio that only really gets used for talk shows and local news, and of course a bunch of Satomi Tadashi convenience stores.
Mechanics
This campaign is going to be run using Valor! It's a strongly anime-inspired system that lends itself well to dramatic action. If you're not familiar with it, I can take some time on the side to run through the basics with you.
That being said, this campaign is using optional rules and custom mechanics!
We are adhering to the Unofficial Valor Changelog for Official Changes. We are also using the rule changes specified by the Unofficial House Rule Repository, except for Scaling Valor and the Healing Core rebalance (since JRPGs usually allow you to turtle with healing).
A short compilation of all of the above changes can be found here.
Experimental mechanics will be detailed when they become relevant.

Character Concept(s): a trans girl living with her Uncle after getting kicked out of her house. She's also the sole member of the newspaper Club and publishes the school newspaper entirely by herself. Basically the news reporter student stereotype with some twists. I don't know the Arcana yet what would make a good Arcana for that

Character Concept(s): Fukumoto Saeko (福元朗子). A shy girl who has trouble expressing her feelings and keeps to herself because she's afraid of relationships. A "people-watcher." She is a member of the Photography Club because it gives her a valid reason to stalk people she's interested in, and gives her a reason to be by herself in a dark room where she can feel safe. (Moon Persona: Longing for the sake of longing, pretending to be aloof when she's very interested in people, etc.)
Support: Yes! The concept of the character being 'mission-control' works well for her. (Can go either way though.)

1: The Charioteer this evening, a girl who started a kenpo club because the (all male) Karate club laughed her out and she'll show them all;
2: The agressively sweet and sensitive boy who got pressured into a sportsball team he'd really rather not be in, a poster child for Strength;
3: The super-closeted lesbian from a traditional family with a secret life as a raunchy fic writer, destined for the Devil Arcana (and Ame-no-Uzume.)

Character Concept(s): Shy girl who goes to cram school and doesn't have much of a social life, as her parents push her to succeed in academics and never get in trouble ever since her delinquent older brother ran away from home. Priestess arcana, probably a healer. Her main issue is feeling constrained and unable to go out and have fun without lying about it because her parents have visions of her brother every time she even gets close to anything risky.

Character Concept(s): Moon Arcana! A psychic girl, who is known as a witch to her school. She's always been able to see this mental world, to the point she can sometimes get confused as to which world she's in. However, she still wants to help people. She uses her powers to see when people are in trouble, as their Shadows tend to show physical sign. The problem is, knowing shit she shouldn't, she tended to be blamed as the cause. Her parents turned abusive, she's left alone at school, she's very lonely, but still, she just wants to help people.
Support: If the player for it is okay with it, I don't see why not.
Question(s): I don't know if a genuine psychic is okay, but given P3 has you social link with a ghost, I figured I'd try. I do have a backup idea if it's not okay!

Character Concept(s): Okay so my idea is unpopular girl who was friends with one of the most popular girls in school because they lived next to each other as kids, and she's always been bullied for it like "you just drag her down, you don't deserve her, etc." but then the friend dies in an accident and character was the only witness so is naturally named as suspect number 1 and rumors begin to spread "she murdered her because she was jealous, don't talk to her or she'll put a curse on you or kill you too." As a result, she completely closed herself off to people.
Arcana would be Hermit.
Hang-up... Hm, could be something like having to actually deal with the truth of friend's death or actually stand up to bullies? /shrug!
Support: Yeah, support character could be cool! PC or NPC, would just make for some good banter too
Question(s): Would we make specific skills for ourselves, or stick to variations on things like Agi, Zio, Tarukaja and so on?

As for your other question - that totally depends! My character in a previous attempt at Valor Persona cribbed some tech names from Persona 2 Fusion Spells but generally that's up to the individual players (so do what you want).
