Re: the support character - I originally planned an NPC for the position but plans have shifted possibly away from that.
As for your other question - that totally depends! My character in a previous attempt at Valor Persona cribbed some tech names from Persona 2 Fusion Spells but generally that's up to the individual players (so do what you want).
